Hello. My name is Brenda ~~ I have been working in the human services field for over 25 years, and have made it my personal goal to work in fields where I know I can effectuate change, no matter how small.
I wear many hats. My first and most important job is being a mother to 4 beautiful children (ages 6, 14, 17, and 25-- yep YIKES!!) so I have a tiny bit of insight on parenting and that insight helps me tremendously in my job as a parent educator and in my role as a co-parenting education facilitator for the Frederick County, MD Courts.
During "regular business hours" I thoroughly enjoy my job as an executive director at an integrative behavioral health center. "After hours," I teach an abuser intervention class, and as mentioned earlier a co-parenting class for those who are going through divorce and custody matters. Then in my "spare time" I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA Worker) and last but not least, I am a trained mediator and a personal and professional coach. As the saying goes, I know a little about everything, but a lot about nothing- but that is perfectly fine with me because is serves me well in my many jobs, hence I am versatile. I am also a firm believer that one can thrive in doing what they are passionate about if they persevere against all odds. Consequently, people tend to become complacent out of a fear of failure or even a fear of success. It takes courage to do the type of introspection needed to learn who we truly are and not what the world expects them to be, and that too can be frightening. But I am here to tell you that passion and success is born from failed attempts, I can attest to that first hand. It is when we praise and embrace these failed attempts that we trust in ourselves and are less likely to feel discouraged- we find the strength to get up, shake it off and push forward. The goal is empowerment and ownership over our own learning experiences- through this we prevail. To learn more about my educational and job experience, feel free to visit my linkedin page
